I think I am in LOVE!
With a Statue! The Met's new Roman wing is open, and I got to see it yesterday! It was fantastic and inspirational! This is a marble statue of the young Hercules, it is from Rome A. D 68-98, he was so massive at least 14 feet high, so amazing!
Interestingly, that very statue of Herc has a little cameo in a children's book I'm writing (book #3 in the "Boomer Sisters" series).
In the second chapter, the sisters go to the Met, which is having a (fictional) exhibition on graffiti. The Greeks were quite familiar with graffiti, of course, so in my book, all the statues are temporarily covered with graffiti tags and comments, like "Diogenes has a crooked nose and smells funny."
Anyway, it was cool to see the photos of something I just finished writing about... thanks!
I am a New York City based photographer who is obsessed with food and farming. I spend as much time in the country as possible. I was born in Iceland but grew up on a farm in New York State. Food, farming and art have always been part of my life.

So massive and so badly hung.
Anyway, did you know that in Greece you can find 1000-2500 year old viking graffiti...?
(most probably by the Varangian guard)
